Families of the victims killed after a city of Eden dump truck crashed into power crews Thursday afternoon are mourning their loved ones.The sister of one of the victims spoke to WXII 12 News on Thursday and said, “He was a lineman who loved the job, everybody loved him, he was a great, great guy and brother."Since then, a memorial has started to grow at the site where the victims were killed. Carolina Power & Signalization said four workers were killed. “Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims, colleagues, and family members impacted by this horrific event,” the company said in a partial statement. The company is also honoring those killed by lifting bucket trucks with an American flag to remember the lives lost.As we learn more about the victims killed, we will add more information here as it becomes available to the community. Matthew Lockwood One of the victims, Matthew Lockwood, was 30 years old and was from Winston-Salem. Lockwood was a Marine, an Eagle Scout, and most importantly to Rynae Lockwood, her little brother.He served in the Marines and did at least three tours in Iraq.“I think he just wanted to serve his country,” she said. “And I think he just wanted to do some good.”“He was an adventurous guy,” she said.Rynae said that adventurous spirit took Lockwood to the great outdoors, starting with his time as an Eagle Scout when he would complete challenging hikes.“He loved to snowboard. He loved to just get out there in the outdoors,” Rynae said. “He was very active, very athletic. Madison Carter Another victim, Madison Carter, was 32 years old and was from the Sandy Ridge area. A family member told WXII that Madison's cousin was also seriously injured in the incident. The cousin got out of surgery Friday night and remains in Trauma ICU, according to the family member. He recently got married in October.Madison's family released the following statement to WXII:"On behalf of the family of Madison Carter, we would like to express our gratitude during this incredibly difficult time. Madison "Matt" Carter was an incredible man, devoted husband and father. His heart was larger than life. He leaves behind his wife and two children, a son (8yrs) and a daughter (9mos). We are all crushed and not sure how we will go on. If you knew Matt, you would understand the severity of this loss. Please respect his wife and children's privacy at this time. Their lives are changed forever. Matt, we love you and we will miss you with every inch of us until we see you again. He was 72 years old and from the Summerfield area.The 72-year-old's son, Douglas Franklin Sides is remembering his dad as a hardworking man who he said everyone loved."He was a great man, he was my best friend, everywhere he went, people knew who he was. He was such a shining star and wanted to be the best," he said.Sides said he and his family appreciate the community's support during this time and his heart goes out to all of the other families who are dealing with this tragedy.Others that knew Sides also spoke out about his legacy. “He was a good lineman and really good working on underground line problems. He played for several years on the Duke Energy softball team and was a good team member both at work and on the field,” a retired Duke Energy lineman said about working with Sides.To find out more about Sides and his legacy visit here. William Evans Another victim, William Evans, was 35 years old and from Randleman and was engaged to be married. In his obit, someone wrote, "Will gave his life in service, doing the work that brought him purpose and pride. Known affectionately as Will or Jr. to those who loved him, had a larger-than-life spirit and a heart just as big."His fiancé said this about William, "He was a father. He was a really good dad, hard worker, made us all laugh. When he loved, he loved hard.
